Where law and business students learn to lead in uncertainty
Uniting Georgetown's business and law schools in distressed finance and restructuring education
To provide students with comprehensive education, networking opportunities, and practical experience in distressed debt investing, corporate restructuring, and bankruptcy law through collaborative programming and professional development initiatives, positioning Georgetown University as a premier institution for distressed finance and restructuring education.
The Georgetown University Distressed Debt & Restructuring Association (GUDDRA) is an umbrella organization that unites two premier student clubs: the Georgetown University Distressed Debt & Restructuring club from the McDonough School of Business and the Georgetown Georgetown Law Restructuring Club from Georgetown Law. This partnership bridges the gap between disciplines, bringing together future financial and legal professionals to foster the collaborative mindset essential for success in the interdisciplinary field of distressed finance and restructuring.
GUDDR focuses on the financial and investment aspects of distressed debt, equipping students with practical skills and industry exposure through firm engagement. Members learn through workshops, case studies, and speaker events.
GLRC concentrates on the role of lawyers in bankruptcy and financial restructuring, preparing future attorneys for complex financial advisory and litigation roles through industry mentorship and hands-on experience.
